FOR years she was too afraid to leave her house due to anxiety – now she has been crowned in a beauty pageant. In her bid to be crowned Miss Hampshire, Isobelle Cooper raised more than tens of thousands of pounds for a handful of good causes.

Although the 18-year-old’s best friend Channon Kail gained the county title, organisers of the Miss England competition deemed the runner up from Sholing fit to wear the Miss Southampton tiara due to her fundraising efforts. She even went on to represent the city at the Miss England finals at Southport in July 2016.

Despite her confidence now, the former student used to suffer from anxiety and has overcome this through counselling. Isobelle has managed to raise more than £30,000 for charity, with half going towards the Countess Mountbatten Hospice and the rest divided between three other causes.

Awaaz invited Miss Southampton 2016 to the studio to talk about her experience of anxiety and road to success….
